Spring 2012
Oh no! Someone spilled on the couch!!
Inspiration:
creepy old English/baroque/traditional couches that has spills all over.
I like the clash between the stuffy and the electric. It also can be looked at as toxic man product spilled upon nature.
EMBROIDERED SPILLS
Yep you heard correctly, all the spills you see on the outfits are full of satin stitch embroidery!
Summer 2012
Chameleon Chain Brooch
Inspiration:
This collection was HEAVILY researched. It all started with a little story from a lady's childhood memories. She said that during the 1950s they wore brooches with a chain that attached to a harness on a little chameleon. I found out that there were peek periods when this was popular. In the 1890's eccentrics were seen wearing them. In the 1920s it was popular to have a chameleon roaming all over, but without a chain. In the 1950s and 1960s they were no longer chameleons, but anoles and were always attached to a harness/pin. From the 20's-60s street vendors or "bug pinchers" at the circus would sell them. Women and children wore them.

Treasures of the Sea

We actually had to include our final collection. Read all about it in the previous post :)

I honestly cannot get over these.
You're not so much a talent as a fucking force of nature.

Incredible! Your style is so inspiring.
i don't know what to say .. just wow . WOW ! WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW !
im really impressed and the range of fabrics you want to use. i mean i try to stay away from leather because its just that much more work. and the amount of embroidery that you want to use it sure will make a great visual statement and it will for sure take a long time. Im sad because i feel like when you do start producing I wont be able to afford anything!!

I think you are doing very, very well! I really like the couch-thing! That's full of humour and just a very good idea. Also I like the one with the deers; even if i think, there is at least one deer too much in the moodboard, but anyway. I think you could make the moodboards a bit more in detail maybe. I love the backgrounds you choose for your sketches! They transport the materials, colors , atmosphere at its best. So, and finally I like the pictures of yourself in this blog, and I really hope this comment will help you a bit! All the best, smilla
Whimsical Forest Fashion-conscious Video
Hi!
I thought that you and the followers of your blog and twitter might find this video interesting!
http://bit.ly/7DxnHm
My actress in "Paper Birds" is wearing a vintage jacket from Paris, the skirt used to be a long vintage skirt from a flea market in Los Angeles but was cut to make it mini, the yellow tights were from a department store in Los Angeles, the shoes are from Paris.
The wardrobe was meant to reflect her whimsical and maybe even mythical personality and create a stark contrast with her environment.
The theme of the video is about the inspiration that can be found even in ordinary circumstances and that in giving back / sharing to the world - magic is created. A theme that is appropriate for the holiday season!
Thanks and Happy New Year,
David
P.S. I have still pictures if you'd like as well.
I've been following your blog for a while and just wanted to say hi, and your portfolio is incredible, your work is really unique.
man, I love The Red Shoes
